Steve Smith injuries shoulder in practice
Spartanburg, SC. The starting wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers Steve Smith suffer a shoulder injury yesterday night after having a collision with a teammate. After doing him the x-rays, and the results shows negative general, manager Marty Hurney did not knew how much time will be the four-time Pro Bowl receiver will be out.
Steven Smith was injured at the moment that he got tangled with the cornerback Chris Gamble, that was early in the evening workout and it was held without pads.
And this is not the only concern for the Carolina Panthers due to the lost for the season of the starting defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu which it was due to a torn Achilles’ tendon. It looks like Smith’s injury is not that serious but it could keep him out for a while. Smith crumpled to the turf and grabbed his right arm after a slight collision with Chris Gamble in a passing drill. After that, he took off his helmet and kicked it before walking to a nearby tent, favoring his right shoulder. Smith was briefly treated before being walked inside, where he went to X-rays. It was not immediately clear if Smith would be taken to Charlotte to receive further evaluations.
Last year Smith had 78 catches for 1421 yards including 6 touchdowns and it’s markable saying that he was the favorite target for Jake Delhomme, Smith, who turned 30 earlier this year, is Carolina’s franchise leader with 51 touchdown catches. It’s value to remember that other started is Muhsin Muhammad and Dwayne Jarrett is the best candidate to become the number three receiver for the season how caught 16 passes in his first two seasons.
