Patriots Have Reason to Panic
No one thought it would be easy for the Patriots to dominate the 2009 NFL schedule, but then again no one thought it would be this hard either. The New England Patriots were supposed to be the cream of the crop this year with the return of the great Tom Brady. But instead, it has been a two-week nightmare so far for the Pats.
Tom Brady is back, but he’s been more or less neutralized by the poor play of his offensive line –one of the biggest surprises so far in NFL football betting this season. He pulled off some late game heroics to snatch a win in week one against a Buffalo Bills team that dominated the hosts, but aside from a couple drives in that game, Brady has been ineffectual.
Last week things got worse when Wes Welker was surprisingly left off the active roster last week against the Jets and he was sorely missed –figuratively, and in Brady’s case quite literally.
With out the Oklahoma Tornado there as a safety valve against the blitz Brady looked lost, as did the Pats offense. Rex Ryan blitzed his brains out and Pats were unable to move the ball when they needed to.
On defense the Pats are no longer the intimidating group they once were either. Both Trent Edwards and rookie QB Mark Sanchez moved the ball at will. Against a premier offensive unit the Pats weakness could be severely exposed.
The Pats started the season as the NFL football odds favorites. But that tide is turning quickly.
