Packers at the Hubert Metrodome
Last time they meet the Vikings escaped with a 28-27 over the Packers when Mason Crosby missed a 52 yards field goal wide right as time expired in week 10 of last season. The Packers have won five of six to take a 49-46-1 overall series lead, (including the playoffs). Last week the Packers went on the road to beat the Rams, 36-17, behind three total touchdowns from quarterback Aaron Rodgers. While Favre connected with Greg Lewis for a 32-yard touchdown pass with 2 seconds left to give the Minnesota Vikings a 27-24 win over the 49ers.
It sure will be interesting Favre facing his old teammates: This is the game Favre has been waiting for since leaving Green Bay. It took him a year, but Favre finally gets to go up against the Packers on the field. He’s played relatively mistake-free football through three games, but that could change if he tries to do more than he is able to.
As much as Favre wants to burn the Packers, Rodgers will get the chance to show he’s the better quarterback at this point. Rodgers was the Favre’s backup for three years, but has emerged as the new face of the franchise in Green Bay. He’s played well so far this season with four touchdowns and no interceptions.
But as much as the two quarterbacks will be talked about before the game, the outcome could be determined by the play of the league’s leading rusher. Peterson is averaging 6.1 yards per carry and already has four rushing touchdowns, numbers which could improve against Green Bay’s 23rd ranked rush defense.
