Jets Look to Get Back in Groove against Jags
The New York Jets have already had enough drama in eight weeks of the 2009 NFL schedule to last eight seasons. With rookie head coach Rex Ryan a seemingly endless supply of quotes and the New York media churning out headlines nonstop the Jets have had plenty of coverage, both good and bad. After starting the season 3-0 and then going 1-4 in the next five games this team has already had some major ups and downs and the season is just halfway over.
When the Jets host the struggling Jags in week nine they will look to get back on track and salvage what it can in the second half of the 2009 NFL schedule.
At 4-4 the Jets are still very much alive in the AFC East division and the AFC playoff race. But it doesn’t have much room for error and rookie QB Mark Sanchez has to play better in the NFL football betting competition. His first four games were impressive. His last four (5 INTs and less than 200 ypg) have been awful.
He showed some signs of life in the week 7 loss to Miami (265 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT) and will need to build on that if this team is going to make the NFL football odds post season.
Sanchez should have plenty of opportunity to put up big numbers against Jacksonville (4-4). This is a pretty bad team that is giving up 242 ypg in the air and 119 ypg on the ground. And even though these teams have identical records don’t let that stat fool you. The Jags are not as good as their record states, but have instead benefitted from a very weak competition.
The Jets are favored by 6½ points in the NFL football odds and should easily win this one at home after an extra week to game plan.
