Chargers battle Broncos for AFC West lead

When these two teams met a month ago the NFL landscape was something very foreign from what it is now, especially in the AFC West. The Broncos pranced into San Deigo with a perfect 5-0 record and trounced the struggling Chargers, knocking them down to an abysmal 2-3 in the NFL football betting standings.

To say that things have changed since their first meeting in the 2009 NFL schedule would be an understatement. The Broncos have not won an NFL odds match up since that game on October 19th. The Bolts have not lost a game since that fateful day.

The Broncos are now 6-3 after having dropped three games in a row. The Chargers are now also 6-3 after winning four straight including the last two games against very tough NFC opponents. So who’s the better team? Right now you’d have to go with the Chargers. Obviously their recent record is much better and talent wise, the team is starting to play up to its lofty expectations.

Phil Rivers is again having one of the best seasons of any QB in the NFL and RB LaDanian Tomlinson is proving the world that he still has some gas in the tank. But the real reason to take the Chargers on the road in this division battle is the fact that Denver’s starting QB Kyle Orton is unlikely to start this game. After spraining his ankle in a loss to Washington the week before Chris Simms is expected to start in his place. For those not in the know, Simms hasn’t started a game since 2006 and is a back-up caliber player at best.

Chargers will take the AFC West lead for the first time this season.
