Blow Out of the Week #1: Lions at Vikings
Normally in the 2009 NFL schedule there is a list of ultra-competitive matchups. But if you need any proof that parity in this league is dead you need look no farther than the beat down in waiting between the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions. This game will feature arguably the best team in the NFL versus the worst team in the NFL and the result won’t be pretty.
These two teams are separated in the NFL football betting lines by 16½ points, one of the biggest spreads of the entire 2009 NFL schedule. And with good reason. The Vikings are a legitimate Super Bowl contender playing at home with one of the best QBs, RB, defensive lines and defensive units in NFL betting.
They will be facing one of the worst teams in the NFL football odds when the Lions come to town and the final result will likely reflect the huge gulf between the NFL’s ‘haves’ and its ‘have nots’.
Brett Favre has been sensational and the emergence of Percy Harvin as one of the NFL football odds’ deep threats makes this offense very dangerous. Especially when you throw in RB Adrian Peterson, the best in the business, and the other half a deadly offensive combination that not many teams can stop.
The Vikings defense won’t have much to worry about either as the Lions offense led by rookie Matthew Stafford has some talent at several positions but will beat itself if given the opportunity.
Nothing good can come from this game (except another win for the Vikings) and there are much more exciting and possibly lucrative betting opportunities out there.
